When I was in Junior High way back in the dark ages of the early 70's, our Rabbi would give us a passage, usually a paragraph or so, from the Torah and would just tell us..translate it and then tell me where this is located in the Torah for next week and read it to the class in your own translation. All we had was a MODERN Hebrew to English lexicon to do this.
