Can I still recieve First Holy Communion?
I am in my early teens, baptised in the Methodist church and haven't attended church since I was six years old. My parents no longer speak of the church and praying etc... The only person that attends the church in my family now is my grandmother, also a Methodist Christian. After visiting the Catholic island of Caldey, I came home with a rosary, medal and prayer card. I also bought a rosary for my grandmother whilst I was there. Visiting Caldey inspired me and made me want to become Roman Catholic. I have 6 Catholic friends who have had First Holy Communion and have recentley been confirmed Roman Catholic. My parents think that Catholics worship Mary and Saints but I am trying to show them that the Catholic church is not what they think it is and in my opinion it has more to offer than the Methodist Churh I used to attend. I am wanting to recieve First Holy Communion and Confirmation but because I am not Catholic -yet- and am passed the age of reason can I recieve holy communion?
FIRST... God Bless you for considering the faith and looking into it. It is interesting how God calls us all to him... you, perhaps while on a trip. What a wonderful story that may make some day, if you truly decide to become Catholic.
Secondly, Nevermind Chris.. he copies and pastes the same malarkey every time a question is asked about Catholicism.
As an actual Catholic......

You are never pass the age to make your sacraments. But you do need to understand them and believe the same thing about them as Catholics.
If you are not yet 14, you can enroll in a confirmation class and then tell them you need to make up your other sacraments first..they will help you.
Confirmation is usually made in the Spring. Classes typically begin in the fall.
You will need a Catholic sponsor. Someone over 18, I believe, who is a confirmed Catholic. Perhaps one of your friends parents or a friend who is old enough???
Otherwise they may appoint you a sponsor.
The sponsor is a mentor who can answer your questions and who you can turn to for guidance years later, should you struggle in the faith.

Otherwise there is RCIA and RCIC - Rite of Catholic Initiation for Adults and logically.. Rite of Catholic initiation for Children.
Not all Churches have RCIC programs.. but nearly all have RCIA programs.
RCIA is how interested individuals learn about the Catholic faith and eventually join. It takes you through all the Sacraments in a group setting.
RCIA like most Catholic classes, typically runs Fall to Spring.
You may want to check into RCIA or better yet RCIC.

Jesus' answer was direct. He did not need any scripture, any religious tenet, dogma, or doctrine to support him, whereas, the priests, the scholars aren't normally confident of their own statements. They must have the support of the scriptures. It really is effortless to say but tricky to practice. Jesus is usually a actual risk-taker. This is his cross, his bravery is his cross. This is the cross he carries until this date. His courage is his cross. The Talmud says the same thing, it is adore that's the essence of Torah, as well as the rest will be the commentary thereof. The scholars and also the pundits are busy quoting such verses, Jesus is busy practicing them. Jesus is usually a man of guts, and also a renegade, a rebel par excellence. Do we remember what he did at the temple in Jerusalem? He rebuked and ransacked the huts of the funds lenders, whilst his disciples watched. And, the spectators were bewildered. They didn't quite know tips on how to respond to the scenario. Spirituality is an vital portion of being human, It gives us hope and as a reminder items like the Holy Family Medal are normally utilised to strengthen faith.
He would not allow any individual to stand between his fellow beings and God. he would not enable anybody to commercialize the word of God. he would not allow any person to institutionalize religion. His message was clear, go and spread the gospel (there was no written gospel)..... What he meant by that was "the tidings of love" - the superior news that Really like alone triumphs. Do we comprehend him? Do we have the exact same courage like him? And, we still call ourselves his disciples? We are devoted to his corpse, his picture, his statue, but not to him. Or, possibly devoted to church, but not to him. Being devoted to him wants a lot of courage. If we're not ready to carry our own crosses, then there is no benefit worshipping him. There is no need to light candles and burn incense, for such acts of outside worship can by no means ever make us any stronger, or any braver.
